GBI Commission - Alicia Bruce
The 2024 RECLAIM Photography Commission aims to support and promote emerging and mid-career photographers to create a new body of work reflecting on urban GBIs in different forgotten towns across the UK.

Alicia Bruce is an award-winning, working-class photographer, community collaborator, and activist. Her first monograph ‘I Burn But I Am Not Consumed’ (Daylight Books, 2023) documents sixteen years of Donald Trump’s impact on a coastal Scottish community.
Her photographs have been exhibited and published internationally including BBC, British Journal of Photography, Financial Times, Harpers, Le Monde and The Times. Her images are in several collections including MoCP (Chicago), National Galleries of Scotland, St Andrews University, UK Parliament, Martin Parr Foundation (Bristol) and Royal Scottish Academy. Alicia is a Teaching Fellow at Edinburgh College of Art and is represented by Women Photograph.
