Biography
Born and raised in Mexico City, María del Carmen is a multi-disciplinary scientist interested in creating fair and livable cities that incorporate nature. She worked as a consultant after studying for a BEng in environmental engineering. She also holds an MSc in applied ecology from a joint Erasmus Mundus programme of the European Commission. She has recently been awarded a PhD in landscape architecture, with a specialisation in nature-based solutions and clean air.

Biography
Dr. Luis Inostroza is a senior researcher at the Faculty of Regional Studies and International Development, Mendel University in Brno where he leads the urban ecology research lab. He applies spatially explicit quantitative methods based on GIS and remote sensing to analyse the metabolism of socio-ecological systems and their links to ecological and economic functions, from local to global scales. Luis possesses profound working experience across Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia having published his work in more than 70 scientific publications and presented at more than 50 international conferences.
