🌿 Urban Greening: A Pathway to Resilient, Healthy, and Equitable Cities

We’re very excited to share our latest publication, developed by an international expert panel convened by the RECLAIM Network Plus, supported by UK Research and Innovation. Drawing on insights from our RECLAIM Network Plus conference, this paper explores:

✅ Key benefits of green infrastructure

✅ Barriers like funding gaps and regulatory hurdles

✅ The role of accurate data and future climate planning

✅ Case studies and innovative funding models (e.g., CSR, green finance)

✅ Why community and cross-sector engagement are non-negotiable for long-term success

The message is clear: Urban greening must be strategic, inclusive, and future-focused. It's not just about greener cities—it's about fairer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

RECLAIM Funded Project
Catchment-scale benefits (flow reduction) and dis-benefits (debris blocking risk) of green-grey infrastructure in urban rivers

In collaboration with Cardiff’s city flood management team, this latest RECLAIM funded research by the University of Bath highlights how green infrastructure impacts flood resilience in urban areas. Using advanced hydrological modelling (ANaRM), land-use scenarios, and machine learning, the study assessed the effects of development on peak flood flows in Cardiff.
