Dr Shelagh Malham is a reader in Marine Biology, and Director of Research, in the School of Ocean Sciences. She completed her BSc (Jt. Hons. Marine Biology and Zoology) and PhD in Octopus immunology at Bangor University. Following a Marie Curie fellowship (on oyster immune function) in Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) station in Roscoff, France and a Return Marie Curie (immunology and genetics of oysters) She was made a Research Lecturer in 2007 and a Senior Research Fellow in 2015, director of research in 2021. She has run multi-million £ grants focusing on applied science to address climate change and other problems, working closely with the marine aquaculture industry. Her funding includes research council, EU and commercial funding.
