Professor Prashant Kumar received his PhD (Engineering) from the University of Cambridge and a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering & Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is currently a Chair/Professor at the University of Surrey, providing leadership to the Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) as its founding Director and to the international engagement and partnerships of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences as an Associate Dean (International). His multidisciplinary research builds interfaces between air pollution and climate change mitigation focusing on the health of people and the environment in cities/megacities. In particular, his research around nature-based solutions (NBS) led to the development of guidance on green infrastructure use in urban areas and various public engagement tools such as HedgeDate, Heat-Cool and GeoIKP (developed by OPERANDUM project). He has published over 280 journal papers with nearly 15,000 citations (h-index 60), secured ~£10.5M in individual funding from ~£30M worth of projects, serving editorial board of numerous journals, panel member/reviewer for over a dozen funding agencies, and advising local and international bodies.
