RECLAIM host Horizon Scanning workshop to commission a series of synthesis reviews

RECLAIM Network Plus hosted a Horizon-Scanning Workshop on ‘What don’t we know about greenspace?’ 38 experts from across the UK and some of our international network members joined us on 17th October 2022 to brainstorm where the evidence gaps are in how well Green, Blue and Grey Infrastructure (GBGI) addresses a number of important issues in cities.

Participants worked in five break out groups for the discussions on: water flow and quality; air pollution, heat and noise; carbon stocks; biodiversity; health and wellbeing and social interactions. The result was an expert-derived assessment of key knowledge gaps on the performance of GBGI, and a long list of people interested in contributing to further work on these topics.

Following the successful workshop, RECLAIM has now commissioned a series of seven data-synthesis reviews which will use meta-analysis procedures to collate data on the performance of different types of green infrastructure, following the typology in this paper https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2772411522000337 . The leads for these reviews will build their authorship teams and work together with RECLAIM to deliver a linked set of reviews to identify knowledge gaps, and provide key data for our RECLAIM database on GBGI performance.

7 Reviews as follows :

Water flow & Quality Mitigation
Air Pollution Removal
Urban Cooling
Noise Mitigation
Biodiversity
Carbon Stocks and Sequestration
Health and Wellbeing
