On Sunday 25th September 2022 the GCARE Team from the University of Surrey took part in the Car Free Day event in Guildford. The team were on hand to provide information on the work of the Guildford Living Lab and projects such as the RECLAIM Network Plus. The event provided the perfect opportunity for the RECLAIM Network Plus to launch its new brochure packed with information about the network and the team behind it.

Prashant Kumar Director of the RECLAIM Network Plus gave short talks at the Guildhall and to the public as part of the event said ’The day was a big success. It was great to have the opportunity to talk with the general public about projects we are involved in such as the RECLAIM Network Plus. I also spent time with the local MP who showed a great interest in our work. I’d like thank all of those involved for their contributions and great teamwork on the day’.

Ben McCallan from Zero Carbon Guildford commented ‘The day was a real team effort with the GCARE team at the University of Surrey. With the GCARE stall set up right outside our building in Guildford we had a steady flow of people come in to see us throughout the day. It attracted lots of new faces to our community space and gave us an opportunity to highlight some of the work we have been doing and inform the public of upcoming events. All in all, it was a great day’.

Lead Councillor for Climate Change, Cllr Cait Taylor added ‘’Great to speak with Prof Prashant Kumar and members of the GCARE team from the University of Surrey at the Free Car Day event in Guildford. The new RECLAIM Network Plus project was of particular interest with it providing support for installing green and blue infrastructure in communities  and I’m sure will lead to some more joined up local thinking in the near future’.
